Tiggerfur!

Tigger, or Tiggerfur as we affectionately called him, passed away on May 31, 2007. A great friend and mostly loyal companion, Tigger started his life with us almost 19 years ago. That's right, he was almost 19 years old. A remarkable age for a house cat. A stray that "found" us, he was taken in by my then girlfriend and now wife and ended up staying at at my apartment due to apartment regulations. He quickly became a great companion, watching TV with me and keeping me company. He was especially comforting when one of my dogs that I grew up with died while I was at college.

Tigger was a very patient cat. He was incredibly tolerant of everything. During his lifetime he moved 3 times, "raised" 3 children, put our dog in his place as well as three other cats. He was a true prince. You may be wondering why we named him Tigger. Well, Tigs earned his name one night when we found him literally jumping up and down on a chair mat just to hear his nails click against the plastic. He was probably around 4-5 months old at the time. He also had a habit of running/jumping sideways down the hallway. He looked like he was bouncing. These two characteristics fit the name and the name fit him.

Here are a final few pictures of our friend, Tigger.

Calling Dr. Frasier Crane!

In April 2007, Frasier, my children's grandparent's dog passed away. This was a sad day for all. Frasier, a Bassett, was almost 10 years old when he passed away. In true Bassett form he was always laid back (as seen in the picture). Each our children spend a lot of time at the "farm" (our summer cabin) where Frasier and our dog Grizzlybear would hang out all day long. Talk about the "dog days" of summer. Ironically, even though the two dogs only hung out during the summer months, when either one was not at the "farm" the other would be very restless. It was like they knew that their friend would always be there. This past Memorial Day weekend was very hard on our dog. He looked for Frasier all weekend. We are not the only one who will miss Frasier.
